The View of a Stay at Home Mom....

from a 10 year old's perspective.

Yesterday I heard that my part time position may have a full time equivalent soon and have been toying with applying since it's a great opportunity.

When I told Darrah, she became weepy, mixed in with a nervous little laugh that she gets. I asked her why she was freaking out and she said that she didn't want to be an after school program that that would be HORRIBLE!  She then asked me WHY I would even consider working full time. I explained to her that we could get out of debt, take vacations, and maybe we could even get the girls a new computer. "I don't want a laptop if that's how I have to get it!" You would think I was going to rob a bank huh? To put the impact of this into perspective this is ALL she wants and asks for, we just simply can't afford it.

I then told her that most Moms work and that since she's almost in middle school it shouldn't be a big deal to wait for me an hour or two to come get them. "But Mom I have THREE little sisters, and Marley can't even subract yet!"

I about died laughing. Alrighty then maybe a few more years at home are in store!

One more precious Darrah moment.....
I have been fighting a bit of depression the past few weeks. Sunday we went shopping together and we had the chance to talk about it candidly.  She told me, "Mom I don't think you know how much I look up to you and love you!" Isn't the mind a crazy thing?  How can I possibly be depressed when I am surrounded by that kind of precious love?

Darling Darrah. That is so sweet. Did she really sway your mind about the job? It would be a huge lifestyle change, yes?

I find it all too easy to be slightly depressed, even though I am well-loved. Is it just weariness? Is it lack of passion? Is it because we're moms?

I dunno.

Sorry to hear that you have been in a dark place. You have such a wonderful family. You have done a great job with your girls. I love your stories about them. They have such unique personalities. What a wonderful and heartfelt comment from your daughter. What a confirmation of your impact on her. Take care my friend! HUGS!!

Darrah!!!
You are quite a somebody!
Thank you for being you, and unwittingly providing the Bernard Bunch with sympathetic and loving entertainement.

These moments are hard both on the Mama, and on the Darrah's of this world.

Darrah ... there is a ten-year old boy called William (my brother) who would LOVE to become your pen-pal! He needs to practice writing in English, and maybe you could learn and word or two in French ... what do you think????????
